I feel fortunate to have ten wonderful composers on board the “In Tandem” project. Every time I receive a draft or finished piece in my inbox, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning, eager to unwrap a surprise gift. Every duo has been a joy to dive into with my duo partner, who each bring their artistry and commitment to their piece.
I can’t believe that just five months ago “In Tandem” was a germ of an idea. As of this week, we have workshopped five of the ten duos, recorded two of the pieces, and taped one interview. We’ve had many logistical challenges–adhering to social distancing protocols for rehearsals and recordings, learning about lighting and recording equipment, and dealing with less than ideal spaces. And now we are about to embark on the editing process in the hopes of having content to share by mid-January! It’s been a steep learning curve for me!
2020 has been truly an extraordinarily challenging year. My wish for all of us is 2021 will be a year of renewed hope and positive changes.
